FOLSOM CHAMBER ANNOUNCES ENDORSEMENTS IN 2024 ELECTION
The Folsom Chamber of Commerce today announced its comprehensive list of endorsements for Folsom City Council, the Folsom-Cordova Unified School District (FCUSD) Board, California State Assembly and U.S. Congress – along with its positions on key local and ballot measures – in the upcoming November 5 election. The Chamber’s endorsements include:
Candidates:
- For City Council District 2: Justin Raithel
- For City Council District 4: Jim Ortega
- For FCUSD Board Area 2: Dianna Laney
- For California State Assembly District 7: Josh Hoover
- For U.S. Congress, California District 3: Kevin Kiley
Ballot Measures:
- The Chamber OPPOSES Proposition 32, which would increase the state minimum wage from the current $16 per hour to $18 per hour by January 2026.
- The Chamber OPPOSES Proposition 33, which would allow rent control on single family homes and houses built after February 1, 1995.
- The Chamber SUPPORTS Proposition 36 which would increase punishments for people convicted of certain drug and theft crimes, particularly crimes involving retail theft and dealing fentanyl.
- The Chamber SUPPORTS Folsom Measure G, which would create a 1-cent sales tax to help raise $29 million annually for police, fire, parks, trails, and economic development within the city of Folsom. All this money would stay in Folsom, could not be taken by the state or county, and up to 40 percent would be paid by visitors who don’t live here but use our services.
